Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about studying with Al Balagh Academy. If your question is not answered here, contact us and our team will be happy to help.

Questions

Getting started

Browse our courses, open the course page, and click the enrol button. You can pay securely online and your access details are sent to the email address you enrol with.

Most of our short courses have no entry requirements and are taught in English. Each course page explains who the course is for and anything you should know beforehand. The Online ʿĀlimiyyah Programme has its own application and admissions process.

Both. Cohort courses run live online sessions on scheduled dates, with recordings provided. Self-paced courses can be started at any time and studied on your own schedule. The format is shown on every course page.

Upon successful enrolment you will receive access to the student portal, and course material is made available shortly before the course begins, typically about a week before the start date.

Enrolment stays open until the deadline shown on the course page, and recordings cover anything you have missed. If enrolment has closed, you can register your interest for the next intake from the course page.

Yes. We offer selected free courses and webinars throughout the year. You can filter for free courses on the courses page.

myAlBalagh is our online student portal and mobile app. It is where you watch live and recorded sessions, download materials, take assessments, and track your progress.

Questions

Live sessions and recordings

Each live session is pre-scheduled with its date, day, and time shown on the course page and in your student portal. You will also receive reminders by email and, for most courses, in the course WhatsApp group.

We always encourage attending live, but it is not compulsory. Missing a live session does not hold back your course progress.

Yes. Recordings are added to your course dashboard, normally within 48 hours of the live session, and remain available alongside the slides and assessments.

You can download recordings and presentations for your enrolled courses through the myAlBalagh mobile app.

No. Your final score comes from the module assessments and the final exam. Recordings and presentations are there to support your learning.

Post your question in the course WhatsApp group or on the discussion board in myAlBalagh. Our academic support team will make sure your question reaches the lecturer and bring the answer back to you.

Every cohort course has a dedicated WhatsApp group for students, and you can also use the discussion board in the student portal. We ask that discussions stay relevant to the course.

Most live sessions are scheduled in UK time, and the exact time and time zone are shown on each course page; a small number of courses run in other time zones. Please check the equivalent in your own time zone when planning your week.

First check your inbox and spam folder for your access email. If it has not arrived, contact us with the email address you used at checkout and we will resolve it quickly.

Questions

Scholarships and financial help

Yes. We believe financial difficulty should never be a barrier to sacred knowledge. You can apply on our scholarship page.

You fill in a short application about your circumstances and the course you want to study. The Scholarship Committee assesses every application and responds within 2 to 3 working days.

Depending on your circumstances, a scholarship can cover from 10% up to 90% of the course fee. You tell us in the application how much you are able to pay.

Anyone in genuine financial need can apply. Applicants who are eligible to receive Zakat may be supported through our Zakat fund; see our Zakat eligibility guide for how eligibility is defined.

Not at all. Scholarship students receive exactly the same live sessions, materials, support, assessments, and certificate as every other student, and your scholarship remains confidential.

Questions

Certificates and assessment

Yes. When you successfully complete the course and its assessments you receive a certificate from Al Balagh Academy by email, which you can print or share.

Our courses do not carry external institutional accreditation. They are developed and taught by qualified scholars and subject experts, and our qualifications are valued on the strength of that scholarship and the Academy's international reputation.

Through short module assessments during the course and a final exam at the end. Your certificate is based on these scores.

The final exam is held at the end of the course. It is a graded, timed exam taken online through the student portal.

If you do not pass an assessment, contact our academic support team through the student portal and they will advise you on the options for your course.
