Osman Sheikh

Biography

(Healthcare Chaplain and Community Development Specialist)

Osman Sheikh has an interest healthcare chaplaincy, community development and education. This has been from policy formulation and service delivery perspectives.

Born in Kenya, Osman spent nine years in India pursuing higher religious studies and gained qualifications in Theology and Jurisprudence. Osman embraces classical positions in Islamic jurisprudence but with an eager eye for its application within contemporary contexts.

Osman has been involved in chaplaincy work over a decade providing pastoral and spiritual care to staff, patients and relatives. He mentors Muslim Seminary graduates by helping them navigate career aspirations.

Osman has developed customised resources on integration & cohesion and facilitated workshops promoting positive sense of identity and belonging, thus enabling young minds to resist peer pressure and challenge negative narratives with confidence.

His involvement in ‘secular & sacred’ initiatives provides him a holistic appreciation of human endeavour and a respect for diverging opinions. He looks forward to enhancing the learning of brothers and sisters at the forthcoming chaplaincy course.
