Born in Leicester, UK, Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam began his journey into Islamic scholarship by studying under prominent scholars both locally and internationally. He has traveled to several countries, including the UK, Pakistan, and Syria, where he studied the Arabic language and other key Islamic disciplines.

Among his esteemed teachers are his own father, Shaykh Mawlana Adam, as well as Shaykh Yusuf Motala, one of the foremost scholars in the UK and the founder of Darul Uloom Bury, where Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam undertook part of his studies.

He also had the privilege of studying under the renowned Shaykh Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, a leading scholar in Islamic jurisprudence and finance, known for his scholarly work on Islamic law and economics. Additionally, Shaykh Abd al-Razzaq al-Halabi, a respected scholar in Syria, was another significant influence in Mufti Muhammad’s studies. These scholars shaped his understanding and mastery of various Islamic sciences.

Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthari holds ijazahs (authorizations) in numerous Islamic disciplines, including the six major collections of Hadith: Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Sunan Abu Dawud, Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Sunan al-Nasa’i, and Sunan Ibn Majah. These ijazahs not only certify his deep knowledge of these works but also authorize him to transmit and teach them to others. Additionally, Mufti Muhammad has been given ijazah in the science of issuing religious verdicts (Fatwa), a highly specialized field that requires comprehensive knowledge of Islamic law.

Throughout his career, Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam has authored several important works, contributing to the understanding and practice of Islamic law in modern contexts. His book Islamic Guide to Sexual Relations is one of his most popular works, providing a clear and accessible guide on this important topic from an Islamic perspective.

He also wrote Elucidation of Forty Hadiths on Marriage, which explores the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) on marriage, and Birth Control & Abortion in Islam, a work that delves into these contemporary issues through the lens of Islamic law. Another significant contribution is The Issue of Shares, in which he addresses the complexities of modern financial transactions, and Simplified Rules of Zakat, a guide on the practical implementation of Zakat, one of the five pillars of Islam.

Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam is widely known for his fatwas (religious verdicts) and his ability to address the everyday issues that Muslims face. His website www.daruliftaa.com, serves as a platform where people can ask him questions and receive detailed, scholarly responses. The website also features a vast collection of articles that explore various aspects of Islamic jurisprudence, ethics, and daily practice, making it a valuable resource for Muslims worldwide. His fatwas cover a broad range of topics, from personal matters such as marriage and family life to complex issues of finance and Islamic law.

In addition to his writing and fatwa work, Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam has taught numerous courses and lectured extensively on Islamic law, ethics, and other subjects. His teaching spans both traditional Islamic seminaries and more modern settings, as he travels frequently to teach and lecture both in the UK and abroad. His ability to explain intricate legal and ethical matters in a way that is relevant to the lives of contemporary Muslims has made him a sought-after speaker and educator.

Currently residing in Leicester, UK, Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam serves as a teacher of various Islamic sciences and as the Director and researcher at the Institute of Islamic Jurisprudence (Darul Iftaa), where he continues to issue fatwas, conduct research, and mentor students.
